RHODOCHROSITE GEMSTONES
Rhodochrosite can be found in Colorado in the USA, Kuruman, South Africa; Romania, Peru, and Argentina. Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate mineral with a chemical composition of MnCO. In its purest form it is a transparent rose red, but this is quite rare. On the Mohs scale of hardness it is rated at a 3.5 - 4.0 which is fairly soft as gemstones go. The refractive index is 1.60 - 1.82. Rhodochrosite is prized by mineral collectors and it is also popular in jewelry. We have a limited number of rhodochrosite gemstones in stock.
