SMOKEY QUARTZ
Smokey quartz, SiO2, is the brown variety of quartz. It is very popular and is easily recognized by the general public although sometimes misnamed smokey topaz. It has a refractive index of 1.544 to 1.553 with a trigonal crystal system. The hardness is 7 on the mohs scale therefore it is very wearable for jewelry. All of the smokey quartz that we stock comes from Brazil. On this page, we feature some of our finished smokey quartz jewelry.
